The Twelfth Annual Provincial Day of Mourning for Workers Killed and Injured on the Job was held at Province House on Sunday, April 28th, 2013. PSAC Members joined other union members and Islanders in remembering workers who were injured or lost their lives on Island work sites. The ceremony was followed by a reception.

UTE local 60008 showed their support for the bargaining team by distributing material showing negotiations with CRA are as cold as ice and the local also distributed ice cream to its members. It was a fun activity with a strong message that UTE members are united for a fair contract and hope that the next sessions are a bit warmer.

Workers, family members, Unions and Government gathered throughout the province at ceremonies to commemorate the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. In 2012, 32 workers lost their lives in Nova Scotia. A commitment to making all workplaces safer was the focus for many of the presenters. Laws must be strengthened and enforced.

Ceremonies were organized in New Brunswick to commemorate the Day of Mourning in the following areas; Restigouche, Bathurst, Miramichi, Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John.
