The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada is pleased to offer Advanced Local Officers Training. This course will give local officers a chance to develop leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and mobilization skills in order to build a more inclusive and participatory Local.

Building on the Introduction to Local Officers course, this course will help you develop internal organization skills, problem-solving skills, and leadership skills. Course content includes the role of the local executive, local bylaws, decision making processes, local activities,  local committees and terms of reference, communicating and recruiting, local meetings, rules of order, Union Management Consultation, working with the community, sharing best practices, and rights and protections of union representatives.

Course materials cover:

  • Highlight the elements of a strong union at the workplace,
  • Build partnerships and access resources and information through their union and community contacts,
  • Work effectively as an Executive; and
  • Build a more inclusive and participatory local

Two or more members of the same local executive are encouraged to apply .

This three-day course will be offered for members in New Brunswick in both English and French in Moncton on March 20th, 21st, and 22nd at the Days Inn & Suites.

Pre-requisites:

Applicants must have a minimum of Talking Union Basics or our Communities, Our Union, Our Rights: An Introduction to the PSAC for Indigenous Members, and the Introduction to Local Officers course.
