Despite all the magic of social media, letters still pack a serious punch. A letter to the editor, to an MP, to your municipal councilor can make important inroads. PSAC members know more than almost anyone about the public services we provide, and we are best equipped to speak up and write up when these services are under attack.
March 31, 2014
The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Miramichi Regional Aboriginal People’s Circle stand in solidarity with the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance. Their commitment to protect the environment and safe drinking water for future generations are inspiring.
We stand opposed to the destructive and dangerous practice of hydraulic fracturing which puts profit before the environment, before our communities and before the rights of First Nation’s people.
We endorse the leadership role being done by the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance. We also call on the New Brunswick government to have an open dialogue with the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance and work constructively to protect the environment.
In solidarity,
Jeannie Baldwin
Regional Executive Vice-President, PSAC Atlantic
