PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS JOIN TO HOST A FUNDRAISING BBQ FOR SCHOOL IN DORCHESTER
DORCHESTER, NB – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) along with other unions will be hosting a fundraising BBQ with all proceeds going towards the Dorchester School Committee for future projects dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of the school in the community of Dorchester.
Laurie Ann Wesselby, PSAC member and spokesperson for the event explains why they organized the event: “This week is National Public Service Week. The government is supposed to recognize the value of public sector workers and public services but instead they keep cutting valuable public services to Canadians and attacking unions. We want to demonstrate that unions and public sector workers do make positive contributions to the communities in which they live in.”
DATE: Friday, June 19, 2015
TIME: 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM
PLACE: 4955 Main Street (Dorchester Community Veterans Center), Dorchester, NB
Background facts:
• National Public Service Week (NPSW) was created in 1992 “to recognize the value of the services rendered by federal public service employees, [and to] acknowledge the contribution of federal public service employees to the federal administration.”
