Regional Executive Vice President

Colleen Coffey, Regional Executive Vice-President, Atlantic

Colleen Coffey was elected Atlantic Regional Executive Vice-President at the 7th Regional Triennial Convention on June 24, 2017 in Saint John, NB.

An active PSAC member for over 20 years, Sister Coffey first began her union activism with the Goose Bay Women’s Committee and entered into a long pay equity battle.  She was workforce adjusted in 1998 and moved to the Airforce Base in Greenwood, NS.  After re-establishing herself and her family, she got involved in her union local and held many roles from Secretary, Treasurer, Shop Steward, Chief Shop Steward and finally President for the past 12 years. 

She held a seat on the PSAC Atlantic Council for three terms and was elected the Alternate REVP for those terms. 

Sister Coffey was elected to be the female PSAC Representative on the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Executive Council and held this seat for several terms until she was elected the Female Vice President at Large that she maintained for two terms.

April 29 Prior to the Convention officially opening, the regions held their regional caucuses.  Colleen Coffey, Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for the Atlantic Region chaired the Caucus and introduced members of the Atlantic Regional Council in attendance.

Sisters and Brothers, This week is National Volunteer Week and I wanted to take a brief moment to recognize and thank all of you who dedicate your time for our union.  Our members give so much without expecting anything in return.  We work together to improve working conditions for all workers in society and we take on causes that our near and dear to our hearts.  We obtain many victories and accomplishments because of the work we do together. This is to advise you that PSAC Atlantic will be organizing our own PSAC-Atlantic Regional School this Fall. Initially, we had planned to combine our school with the CLC Workers Summit, however, in order to achieve the best results for our members in this Region, we decided to proceed with our own school.

USJE Local 60052 represent 66 members throughout the province of New Brunswick (Grand Manan, Fredericton, St. Stephen, Richibucto, Moncton, Dieppe, Saint John, Elsipogtog, Grand Bay-Westfield, Blackville, Sussex, Hampton, Riverview, St. George & Shediac). Most members perform clerical positions for the RCMP officers. Some of them work in finance, records, court, sources, HR, training, assets, telecommunications, data operator, client services, data reports, and planning.

We have had many inquiries from PSAC members about the provincial holiday in February. The third Monday in February is now a provincial holiday in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
