This course will provide new Officers of a Local Executive an opportunity to understand their responsibilities as a Local Officer, and to know how and where to obtain support within the PSAC.

Elections Training

September 21-22, 2019

St. John's

This 2 day, skills-based course, will prepare PSAC members in and around targeted ridings to play a hands-on role in the upcoming Federal Election. Participants will learn how to have political conversations and have the opportunity to put the learned skills in to practice.

Interpreting the Collective Agreement & Human Rights and Employment Equity in the Workplace

September 28-29, 2019

This course will enhance your understanding of what a Collective Agreement is and what is in it. It will help members understand Human Rights and Employment Equity in the workplace & clarify the Employer and Union roles with respect to Human Rights and Employment Equity.

Talking Union Basics

This course is the first introduction to the PSAC for members and continues to be the foundation for more advanced union education.

Greivance Handling

November 2-3, 2019

Goose Bay

This course provides new PSAC shop stewards with essential basics for grievance handling and effective stewarding.

Advanced Local Officers Training 

November 15-17, 2019

Gander

You will develop leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and mobilization skills. Course content includes the role of the local executive, strategic planning, local activities, local committees and terms of reference, communicating and recruiting, representation issues and the Duty of Fair Representation, local meetings, improving the effectiveness of union management, consultation, and rights and protections of union representatives.
