Despite all the magic of social media, letters still pack a serious punch. A letter to the editor, to an MP, to your municipal councilor can make important inroads. PSAC members know more than almost anyone about the public services we provide, and we are best equipped to speak up and write up when these services are under attack.

Dear Mr. Vargas,
Please find enclosed a pride flag that was signed at the pride festival in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on August 20, 2016. We asked participants to write a message of love, hope and solidarity destined to the Orlando community following the tragic events of June 12, 2016.
If you can send us a picture of the flag once you receive it, it would be greatly appreciated. However, we also understand that you are overwhelmed with cards, letters and banners and might not be able to get back to us.
Let me end by quoting Jack Layton (1950-2011), a Canadian politician who has been a lifetime advocate on behalf of the LGBT community:
“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.”
In solidarity,
Colleen Hodder
