6th PSAC Atlantic Triennial Convention comes to Saint John

SAINT JOHN, NB - Over 300 Public Service Alliance of Canada members from the four Atlantic Provinces will converge at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre in Saint John this weekend for their 6th triennial Convention. Delegates will vote on resolutions that will give direction to the region over the next three years and will elect a council to govern it.

Organized around the theme “We Are ALL Affected. Stronger Together!”the gathering also seeks to focus on the cuts to important essential public services affecting everyone in society such as employment insurance, food inspection and services to our veterans.

“The Harper government made draconian cuts to public services affecting ALL Canadians,” says Jeannie Baldwin, Regional Executive Vice-President, “We will fight back to protect those services, uphold our rights as union members and ensure that we are ready to defeat the Harper government in 2015.”

The Convention will be addressed by PSAC National President Robyn Benson and Regional Executive Vice-President Jeannie Baldwin.  Professional comedian, actor, writer and speaker Candy Palmater will deliver the keynote.

With a membership of over 170,000, PSAC is one of the largest unions in the country. PSAC represents over 18,000 workers in the Atlantic primarily in the federal public sector.
