Press Conference: Cuts to defence workers will impact Halifax

HALIFAX, NS - The Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE), Component of the Public Service Alliance which represents approximately 20,000 public and private sector workers at Department of National Defence establishments across Canada, is hosting a press conference in Halifax on Friday, September 14th, at 2:30 p.m. 

The event is an opportunity for the public to learn about significant cuts to civilian defence workers at military installations across the country and the impact on the communities like Halifax. The union will also take the opportunity to brief the media on their plans for the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s National Day of Action, September 15 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia targeting Defence Minister Peter MacKay.

Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Regional Vice-President, Jeannie Baldwin will be joining John McLennan, UNDE President and Philippe Turcq, UNDE Vice President Quebec. The officials will also provide materials related to the advertising campaign ongoing in the Halifax area.
