SYDNEY, NS - Veterans in Sydney and across the country are mobilizing to stop the closure of the nine Veterans Affairs offices they rely on for face-to-face services. Supporting them in Sydney is a chorus of community members, local organizations, Veterans Affairs workers, unions, and every level of local government, all of whom will be out in force this Saturday at the Veterans March of Concern.
Veterans in Sydney say they were never consulted about the closure and haven’t been officially notified. Marchers will call on Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino to come to Sydney and hear first-hand why they need these offices to stay open. They will also call on Minister Fantino to deliver their message to his colleagues in cabinet and to the Prime Minister.
