Unions Denounce Newly Imposed Working Conditions by SERCO at CFB Goose Bay

HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, NL – On March 8, members of the Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE) local 90125 and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will hold a press conference in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL to denounce the newly imposed working conditions at CFB Goose Bay, the largest military air base in northeastern North America.

Although SERCO has been the successful bidder since 1998 in ensuring the maintenance and operation requirements of the base infrastructure and airfield at CFB Goose Bay, they recently imposed new working conditions on the employees without any consultation with the union.  Such changes include but are not limited to: drastic shift change that negatively impact the health and safety of the employees, wage cuts and lay-offs.  John MacLennan, National President of UNDE as well as Chris Aylward, National Executive Vice-President of PSAC, will be unveiling the union’s plan in fighting back these concessions.
