Introduction to Being a Steward

This one-day course will introduce participants to the basic concepts and practices of stewarding.  The training is part of PSAC’s new series of short courses dedicated to supporting union stewards. 

New stewards will benefit from taking this course prior to taking the Grievance Handling course.

Talking Union Basics

Employment Equity

By the end of the course participants will better understand the principles behind employment equity; understand how employment equity works; be able to defend employment equity and address commonly held myths about employment equity; understand the union’s role in employment equity; and be able to take action to support employment equity. In this course we aim to address three questions about employment equity: why (why do we have/ need it?); what (what is it?); and how (how do we make it work?).
