Our Area Councils and Regional Committees (Women’s, Human Rights and Young Workers) were faced with quite the challenge these past few months. How do you operate in the midst of a pandemic? Well, they certainly adapted and continued their important work! The Committee Success Stories is designed to highlight the successful work accomplished by our various committees in the Atlantic Region.

This year, the Regional Women’s Committee of Charlottetown reached an important milestone: their 30 years of existence!
Although many Sisters and have come and gone, the bond that tied those Sisters together remained strong and ensured that some members remained connected with one another. Not only did the RWC create a safe space for women to come together, network and exchange ideas, it also enabled them to bring about change in their community by working on important issues that affect women. More specifically, they tackled childcare, pay equity, family violence, red dress campaign, food inequality, labour day, sick leave, pharmacare, etc.
The committee organized a celebratory event on October 4th, 2020 in order to highlight this special achievement. We congratulate all the members who worked with this committee and we look forward to continued advocacy on behalf of women in PEI and across Canada.
