Are you interested in co-facilitating one of the following courses?  Then, please indicate your interest to me in writing by March 23, 2012.The following courses will be offered:Duty to Accommodate (English)Advanced Steward Training (French)Advanced Steward Training (English)For the most part, some course development may be required.  Facilitating teams will need to update existing materials accordingly.  Facilitators will require time to prepare immediately prior to school commencement.

HALIFAX, NS - Roughly 60 industry stakeholders are attending the Atlantic Seal Advisory Meeting at the Lord Nelson in Halifaxto discuss the 2012 Seal Management Plan.  Merv Wiseman, a shop steward for Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Search and Rescue Coordinators and a member of the Canadian Sealers Association, has been told he won’t be welcome at the second day of the proceedings today.

On Friday, August 19th, only minutes before Atlantic region Employment Insurance processing centres were due to close for the weekend, federal government employees received an e-mail with devastating news.

I look at the recent announcement for lost jobs within the public service in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. I consider the base of seasonal employees who work for the good seasons and are obliged to collect employment insurance to sustain themselves when they are given notice of a completed season or a complete work stoppage.

If your Local could benefit from educational modules on work force adjustment (WFA), the 45-minute WFA information session and the 3-hour module designed for Local Officers are modules available through our education program.  Locals are encouraged to contact their regional office for more information.
