In late April we received notice to bargain from Treasury Board to commence negotiations for a new FB collective agreement.  Our new bargaining team also met in April to discuss priorities for the coming round.

The PSAC's newly elected bargaining teams for the PA, FB, TC, SV and EB groups will be meeting in Ottawa from July 7th to July 11th for the start of negotiations with Treasury Board. PSAC previously received notices to bargain for these groups. The bargaining teams are united in their resolve to defend public services and the working conditions of those who provide them. Letter to the editor, published in The Guardian on May 17, 2014 Cut backs to services can happen on a gradual basis and you don't even realize what you've lost until you tried to access the service. Most people only think about the Canada Revenue Agency at tax time and this year, if you appeared at our Tax Services Office in Charlottetown, you would have been met with a locked door because we no longer offer public services as of November 1, 2012.

May 17th is recognized as International Day against Homophobia.  Even though rights for the GLBT community has improved, we still have a long way to go.  People should not live in fear because of their sexual orientation or sharing their love for one another in public.

Mental Health Week is an annual national event that takes place during the first week of May.  Mental Health is still stigmatized in today’s society, therefore it is important that we share valuable information around mental health and provide help when needed.  Let’s be clear, mental health is a state of well-being.  It affects how we think, feel, act and interact with others.
