Statement on International Day against Homophobia

May 17th is recognized as International Day against Homophobia.  Even though rights for the GLBT community has improved, we still have a long way to go.  People should not live in fear because of their sexual orientation or sharing their love for one another in public.

At PSAC, we have a long history for standing up for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans rights.  Whether at the bargaining table, in the courts or on the streets, our Union has been fighting for GLBT rights for more than 30 years.

We can be proud of the work being done by our members in the Atlantic Region.  Area Councils, Human Rights Committees and our very own GLBT Director, ensure that we have a strong presence at pride festivities in the Atlantic.

PSAC is committed to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of Union members from lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender and transsexual communities.

With Pride and solidarity,
