Report of the Provinical Director for Prince Edward Island, Jody LaPierre, September 2011 – January 2012

Below, I have provided a brief synopsis of my union roles and activities I have taken part in between September 2011 and January 2012 in my capacity as Provincial Director for Prince Edward Island.

  • President of UVAE local 90001
  • VP of the PEIArea Council
  • Treasurer of the PEIHuman Rights Committee
  • Alternate PSAC rep for the PEIFederation of Labour
  • Attended the PEIFederation of Labour convention November 25-26 in Summerside
  • Attended all PEIArea Council meetings
  • Attended all PEIHuman Rights meetings
  • Conducted CBCradio interview on job cuts
  • Conducted CBCTV interview on job cuts
  • Have met with the Mayor, MLA’s, MP’s, Chamber of Commerce on job scuts and the effect they will have
  • Met with MP Sean Casey on Parliament Hill
  • Attended PSAC two day team building at Atlantica Hotel and Marina Oak Island
  • PSAC representative on the Government of Canada workplace charitable campaign
  • Attended UVAE convention in Quebec city, was elected Alternate NVP
  • Took part in NUMCC meetings in Ottawa
  • Member of the VAC Health and Safety Committee
  • Attended the CETA rally
  • Attended the CETA information session at the Delta Charlottetown Hotel
  • Attended PSAC Charlottetown Regional Office open house
  • Awarded UVAE Scholarship to winning recipient
  • Attended Labour Day BBQ
  • Attended National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women

As you can see by the above activities, I have been quite involved in my role as PSAC Provincial Director in representing PEI, and hope to continue with the same effort and dedication.
