FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 19, 2018 Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Receive Overwhelming Strike Mandate NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR–The Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN), who are members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), held strike votes earlier this month and received an overwhelming strike mandate from their members.

Douglas McCurdy Airport Rally for a Fair Collective Agreement SYDNEY, NS – On December 6, members of the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 80807, a Component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), will be rallying at the Sydney/J. A. Douglas McCurdy Airport demanding that their employer negotiates a fair collective agreement now.

Bargaining teams representing nearly 90,000 federal public service workers need your help. The next bargaining sessions will be held on November 27-29 for table specific proposals and December 4-6 for common issues proposals. At those sessions, our bargaining team members will need to demonstrate to the employer that they have the support of PSAC members.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada is negotiating a new collective agreement for nearly 100,000 Treasury Board employees working in the federal public service. Here are highlights from the major demands put forward at the common issues bargaining table: ADDRESSING PHOENIX To prevent another tragedy like Phoenix from ever happening again, PSAC is demanding greater consultation with the union before any technological changes are put in place affecting members. Congratulations to members of UCTE Local 90901 who ratified their new collective agreement! The 5-year contract which will expire in April 2023 includes wage increases for every year of the agreement, an increase in RRSP contributions and other improvements. Once again, congratulations to the bargaining team and the union membership!
