The 53rd New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) convention was held in Moncton from May 28 to 31, 2017.
Although many N.B. PSAC locals are affiliated with the NBFL, only a delegation of only 9 PSAC members participated to this convention. If your local is not already affiliated, please contact your PSAC regional office for more details on the advantages to be affiliated.
During this convention, the PSAC members on site elected the two PSAC representatives who are part of the NBFL executive for Unions with more than 5000 members. Marc Blanchard (UHEW) and Marie-Ange Losier (CEIU) were elected for the next two years. Joe Blades (UGSW) and Isabelle Forest (UHEW) were elected as first alternates while David Meade (UNDE) and Vicky Mazerolle (CEIU) were elected as second alternates.
Furthermore, Shanny Doucet, (GSU) was elected by acclamation to the position of Vice President Responsible for Women’s Issues on the NBFL executive and Vicky Mazerolle was elected as one of the four representatives on the women’s committee.
Many resolutions were debated including one from PSAC calling upon all NBFL affiliated to lobby MP’s to fix phoenix.
