Respectful Workplace / Anti-Harassment

This course will provide participants with the tools and resources to effectively deal with workplace conflict.  Participants will identify the elements that make up a respectful workplace.  They will define harassment and bullying and the impact on the workplace and workers.  The legal framework, as it pertains to policies and process, that governs harassment in the workplace will be reviewed and preventive measures will be examined.  The participants will identify formal and informal recourse routes when dealing with workplace harassment and identify effective strategies for dealing with it.

Employment Equity

 By the end of the course participants will better understand the principles behind employment equity; understand how employment equity works; be able to defend employment equity and address commonly held myths about employment equity; understand the union’s role in employment equity; be able to take action to support employment equity. Basically, in this course we aim to address 3 questions about Employment equity: why (why do we have it? why do we need it?); what? (what is it?); and how? (how do we make it work?)

Introduction to Being A Steward

This one-day course will introduce participants to the basic concepts and practices of stewarding.  The training is part of PSAC’s new series of short courses dedicated to supporting union stewards. New stewards will benefit from taking this course prior to taking the Grievance Handling course.
