To celebrate the National Aboriginal Day, the Greater Moncton Human Rights Committee took advantage of its last meeting on June 14th. Guéganne Martin Doucet, a Mik'maq painter/sculptor artist from the Shédiac region and originally from Escuminac, New Brunswick, was invited to do a presentation on the making of a dream catcher, its history and origin.
For the occasion, she was accompanied by her brother, Archie Martin who does presentations in schools in Quebecand in the Maritimes on Aboriginal culture. He presented to the members the dream catcher's legend and many other stories relating to his culture and shared some personal experiences.
