Sisters and Brothers,
First and foremost, let me express my deepest gratitude to the delegates who elected me as Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for PSAC’s Atlantic Region. I’m deeply honored and I commit to give my 100% on a daily basis. I will do my best to represent you and fight on your behalf.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’ve been an active PSAC member for over 20 years. I first began my union activism with the Goose Bay Women’s Committee and entered into the long pay equity battle. I was work force adjusted in 1998 and moved to the Airforce Base in Greenwood, NS. After re-establishing myself and my family, I got involved in my union local and held many roles from Secretary, Treasurer, Shop Steward, Chief Shop Steward and finally President for the past 12 years. I held a seat on the PSAC Atlantic Regional Council for three terms and was elected the Alternate REVP for those terms.
In the coming weeks, I will be attending various pride parades, prepare for labour day celebration and organize our first Council meeting with the directors that were elected at Convention. I will be sharing my calendar with the membership and I invite all of you to join me at various events and to invite me to your local meetings and events. There’s nothing more important and rewarding than spending time chatting with our members and hearing their concerns first hand.
That being said, I hope you will take advantage of the summer holidays to relax and enjoy some quality time with friends and family. It’s important that we take the time to recharge our batteries for whatever challenges lie ahead.
If there’s anything I can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours in solidarity,
Colleen (Coffey) Hodder
Regional Executive Vice-President, PSAC Atlantic Region
