PSAC protests slow bargaining in Listuguj

PSAC 69081 members leafleted community members and band councillors in Listuguj Québec May 20 to protest management negotiators' threats of cuts and layoffs during conciliation.

PSAC reprensents 53 teaching and non-teaching personnel at the Alaqsite’w Gitpu School in Listuguj, QC.

The local has been in bargaining with the band for more than two years. Talks broke off Oct. 2009. The two sides have been in conciliation since early May.

This is a first contract for this unit, which was certified in November 2007.

Local organizers report great support from the community: cars honking in support, people stopping to take the flyers and waving.

The local is planning a major event for June 21st, Aboriginal Day.
