Membership of the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) Local 80002 is comprised of approximately 250 members across the province of Nova Scotia, more specifically: Purdy’s Warf, Founders Square, Oxford Street, Burnside, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Sydney government building and the Yarmouth ferry terminal.
Custom Officers control the movement of goods and people in and out of Canada through marine mode, air mode, terminal (highway), inland enforcement team, investigation section, program officers, administration staff and analytical work.
They are proud to be unionized because one of the main benefits is ensuring the respect of their collective agreement, which includes important health and safety measures that have an important impact on their day-to-day lives.
