On December 17 1999, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth that August 12 be declared International Youth Day.
International Youth Day 2017 is dedicated to celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace.
As the Atlantic Young Worker Director I would like to take this opportunity to recognize our Youth. Although young workers are not necessarily youth we need to recognize that youth are the future young workers.
Although our approach may be different, our ideas are valuable. Young people bring a new perspective, create innovating opportunities and are essential to fostering a sustainable Union and world for us all.
Today, let’s take some time to celebrate, and show support for the Youth in the world as well as all those who are still Young at Heart! <3
Happy International Youth Day to all!
In Solidarity,
Leanne Moss
Atlantic Young Worker Director
