Support for Elsipogtog’s stand against fracking

The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Miramichi Regional Aboriginal People’s Circle stand in solidarity with the people of Elsipogtog in their struggle to stop natural gas exploration by SWN contractors near their land.  Their bravery and their willingness to risk injury and incarceration are inspiring.

We stand opposed to the destructive and dangerous practice of hydraulic fracturing which puts profit before the environment, before our communities and before the rights of First Nation’s people.

We call on the New Brunswick government to listen to the voices of the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet of New Brunswick and of the working people of the province, instead of that of a single oil and gas multi-national.  We call for an immediate end to hydraulic fracturing projects throughout Atlantic Canada.
