Dear Mayor Philip Brown,

Thank you for your telephone call on the evening of June 15, 2020. I am the President of the PEI Area Council of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). PSAC represents over 3,100 federal public sector employees in Prince Edward Island including workers at Veterans Affairs Canada, Parks Canada, Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency here in Charlottetown.

Sisters, Brothers and Friends,

On this National Public Service Week, I say thank you to all our members in the federal public service.

PSAC members have been on the frontlines of this pandemic, committed to delivering critical government services for Canadians everywhere. You went above and beyond and continue doing so in order to provide essential public services to Canadians during these difficult times.

The impacts of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ2+ members and our communities makes it a trying time. Many of us look forward every year to celebrate our achievements and fight for more equality. This year, we will have to do it differently, because we simply cannot cancel or skip pride.
