On Monday, August 6th, the PSAC had a float in the Gander Day Parade titled “We are ALL Affected." The float highlighted the campaign and the impacts to everyone that will result from the federal cuts to public services. There were over 1000 who watched the parade meander through town, many of whom were given our campaign materials as well as candy and water bottles as we marched past. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in attendance (as a puppet).

Some of our members volunteered for the parade and they encouraged spectators to sign affected letters for Minister Penashue.

On August 1st 2012, the PSAC was proud to participate in the festivities at the 194th Royal St. John’s Regatta in Newfoundland. The crowds were huge, and we had some great conversations with members of the public about how we are ALL affected by the Federal cuts to public services. People were very supportive of the cause and many were eager to sign an affected letter for Peter Penashue to stand up for our Public Services. PSAC’s booth featured free face painting and a raffle for a Made Right Here Newfoundland gift basket valued at $250.

On Saturday, July 21st PSAC members marched in the St. John’s Pride Parade wearing “We are ALL affected” t-shirts. There was a record turnout as hundreds marched through downtown St. John’s to show their support for the LGBTQ community. The slogan for the march was “You are not alone” to demonstrate support for youth who face homophobia and who may have less access to the LGBTQ population. Before the parade began there were many speakers including Gerry Rogers (MHA St. John's Centre) and Ryan Cleary (MP St. John's South - Mount Pearl) of the NDP.
