Saint John, August 30, 2019 – The members of the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE), a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) working at Saint John Airport, voted last night in favour of a strike mandate.

“The members have given their bargaining team a strong strike mandate, by a large majority. Our members are prepared to fight for what they want, so the table is set for the last day of mediation on September 5,” said Colleen Coffey, Regional Executive Vice-President of PSAC-Atlantic.

This coming Monday is a holiday when all workers are invited to celebrate the power of their labour. On this day, we have an opportunity to participate in several events marking Labour Day or simply spend time with family and friends.

I am proud to advocate for a union that strives to improve working and living conditions for all Canadians. On this day, may we remember the battles we fought and be mindful of the struggles still ahead to achieve fairer working conditions.

The PSAC Atlantic Regional Women’s Conference will be held at the Canadian Forces Bases Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick from October 4 – 6, 2019.

The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada is pleased to provide an opportunity for Indigenous members to learn how they can navigate the structures of the PSAC.
