Our Area Councils and Regional Committees (Women’s, Human Rights and Young Workers) were faced with quite the challenge these past few months. How do you operate in the midst of a pandemic? Well, they certainly adapted and continued their important work! The Committee Success Stories is designed to highlight the successful work accomplished by our various committees in the Atlantic Region.

Members of the Regional Women’s Committee and Human Rights Committee in Prince Edward Island teamed up to assemble 60 care packages consisting of personal care items. One third of the care packages were delivered to Upper Room Hospitality Ministry which is a non-profit organization based in Charlottetown that operate a food bank and soup kitchen while the other two thirds were given to the men’s and women’s shelters.
Michelle Neill, who led this initiative had this to say about the team effort: ‘It was an idea we had been discussing for a while and with the current Covid-19 situation, we felt it was even more important for those in need to have their own personal care products, rather than sharing with others. We had a wonderful time putting the bags together on Saturday morning on my patio deck while discussing further ideas for community involvement.’
Special shout out and thanks to Heather Ford (PEI Director, PSAC-Atlantic), Debi Buell (Human Rights & Charlottetown Women's Committees Chairperson), Valérie Quinn (Women's Committee Secretary), Lindsay MacLellan (UTE Local 90002 Vice-President), Jackie Ellis (Western PEI Women's Committee Chairperson), Crystal Gillis (Human Rights Committee Secretary), and Michelle Neill (Director for members with disabilities, PSAC-Atlantic).
