Members of the PSAC Saint John and Vicinity Area Council and the Greater Moncton Area Council participated in the Labour Day event in Saint John and Moncton with other Unions.

Members of the PSAC Greater Moncton Human Rights committee along with the National Indigenous People Circle Male Representative and Atlantic Region Aboriginal Director on the PSAC Atlantic Regional Council, Joey Dunphy were present at the Moncton Farmer’s Market on July 6th, 2019 to bring awareness to the general public on the issue of safe drinking water for First Nation communities in Canada. There are still 125 Aboriginal communities that are currently under boil-water advisories. Some have been for years.

This coming Monday is a holiday when all workers are invited to celebrate the power of their labour. On this day, we have an opportunity to participate in several events marking Labour Day or simply spend time with family and friends.
I am proud to advocate for a union that strives to improve working and living conditions for all Canadians. On this day, may we remember the battles we fought and be mindful of the struggles still ahead to achieve fairer working conditions.

The Breaking the Silence (BTS) project is supported by the PSAC Social Justice Fund. BTS engages members to deepen their understanding of Guatemala and to build solidarity with Mayan communities.
Breaking the Silence https://www.tatacentre.ca/index.php/partnerships/bts (English only) is organizing a delegation to travel to Guatemala in 2019 to work with and learn from grass roots organizations empowering communities.

As your Director for LGBTQ2+(Pride) members on the PSAC Atlantic Council, I will soon be joining many PSAC members within the Atlantic Provinces and across Canada, and people around the world in recognizing the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. I would like to invite you to join me on this day in celebrating our diversity and bringing attention to the fact that LGBTQ2+ rights are human rights.
