We are all affected campaign kicks off in Cape Breton

Children munched on hotdogs, carried balloons and had their face painted during the kick off of the "We are All Affected" campaign in Cape Breton. Over 200 PSAC members and their children were joined by the Mayor, Councillors, District Labour Council, coalition partners and local citizens who are concerned about the affects of job loss in their community. Earlier that day, members volunteered at the Walk for Autism and distributed bottles of water featuring the label, "We Are All Affected", and distributed postcards and window stickers.

St. John's Area Council BBQ

The St. John's Area Council held a lunchtime BBQ in Pleasantville yesterday.

The event was a huge success !! There were approximately 150 people in attendance over the 2 hour period from 12:00 - 2:00 PM and they collected $100 and 3 boxes of food which was donated to the Community Food Sharing Association.

Working Group on Federal Job Losses Releases Report - PEI Projected to Lose 10 to 12 per cent of its Federal Jobs

CHARLOTTTETOWN, PEI– A working group made up of the City of Charlottetown, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada and the Government of Prince Edward Island has released a report they commissioned into the scope and impact of potential federal job cuts on Prince Edward Island.

The study, completed by McInnes Cooper, was launched in February 2012, at a time of widespread speculation about the volume of federal cuts. The key findings of the report are as follows:
