April 28 is the National Day of Mourning when we remember those who have lost their lives or suffered injury and illness because of their work.

Every day there are opportunities to prevent workplace injury and death, but we can’t do it without the data we need to drive our decision-making.

In Canada, we collect statistics on many things including the weather, but we fail to accurately record the number of individuals who have died as a result of their work. Because of this, we do not learn the lessons that would allow us to prevent future tragedies.

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – Agriculture Union local 90004 in partnership with the Public Service Alliance of Canada – Atlantic Region, purchased a 1060 lb 4-H steer at the 68th Annual PEI Easter Beef Sale that was held on March 29, 2019.  And as the Easter weekend approaches, island residents who use food banks will find the union’s Easter Beef donation waiting for them.

SAINT JOHN, NB – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will hold a lunchtime rally at Saint John-Rothesay Member of Parliament Wayne Long’s constituency office on Thursday. They are among some 140,000 federal public sector workers who are outraged by the federal government’s lack of movement in contract negotiations.  Members will rally outside Long’s office before their representatives meet with the MP inside at 12:30pm.
