Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Receive Overwhelming Strike Mandate

NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR–The Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN), who are members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), held strike votes earlier this month and received an overwhelming strike mandate from their members.

On December 6th, members of the Greater Moncton Human Rights committee attended the Moncton Candlelight Vigil marking the National day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.

Sisters Lorraine Gallant and Stephanie Scott and Farid Tourkmani attended this ceremony on behalf of the committee and handed out a cheque of $100.00 to Kathy Leger who will coordinate the distribution to the Violence Prevention Centre at Serenity House, Saint Anne de Kent NB.

To highlight the International Human Rights Day, once again members of the Greater Moncton Human Rights committee came together to volunteer at a local based soup kitchen this year.  They spend the day helping out at the Karing Kitchen to prepare and serve lunch to members of the community at no cost.  «Karing Kitchen is about "providing a nutritious hot meal, ensuring food security and advocating for a person's rights and responsibilities.» says Coordinator Melissa King.
