On behalf of the Atlantic Regional Council and the Council’s Education Committee, I’m thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for the much anticipated 2018 PSAC Atlantic School!

The Atlantic School brings together union activists from the four Atlantic Provinces with a foundation in union education to advance their skills in the company of the region’s most activated members.  The school’s in-residence program is tailored to deliver advanced courses in both official languages, while immersing participants in union culture.

It is now official, the PSAC Young Workers Committee for Fredericton and Surroundings is now up and running!  They had their first meeting on April 17th, 2018 and the PSAC Atlantic REVP, Colleen Coffey chaired their first election.

The elected officers are:

PSAC’s Atlantic Region is in the process of developing a plan that will shape our Education Program for the next three years, and we would love your help.  We are conducting a short online survey open to all PSAC members, whether or not you have taken a PSAC training course.  The survey takes only 10 minutes and will help ensure that our members receive the courses you require in the format that best fits your needs.  Anyone who takes the survey will be entered into a draw to win a Union Gift Pack full of locally made goods and essentials for being a union activist.

STUSU Signs New Collective Agreement with Workers Union

FREDERICTON, NB – The St. Thomas University Students’ Union (STUSU) recently reached a new collective agreement with the Workers Union of the St. Thomas University Students’ Union (WU STUSU) who are part of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). Both parties are extremely satisfied with the details of the new two-year agreement, which will expire on April 18, 2020.

Sisters and Brothers,

On April 28, the National Day of Mourning, we remember all those who have been killed or injured on the job.  In addition, this year we are focusing on harassment and violence in the workplace.

Many area councils have already made arrangements to lay a wreath at their community event on behalf of our union. I encourage you all to attend an event near you.  There are various events organized in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. (See event listing below.)
