Colleen Coffey was elected Atlantic Regional Executive Vice-President at the 7th Regional Triennial Convention on June 24, 2017 in Saint John, NB.

She held a seat on the PSAC Atlantic Council for three terms and was elected the Alternate REVP for those terms.

Sister Coffey was elected to be the female PSAC Representative on the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Executive Council and held this seat for several terms until she was elected the Female Vice President at Large that she maintained for two terms.

We have a saying in Newfoundlandand Labrador, for situations that are unacceptable. Unjust. Unfair. Outrageous. ‘Not fit’.Our friends on the mainland use the phrase too, but in a slightly different way. Up there it means something is not equal. It doesn’t match up. Doesn’t add up. It doesn’t fit. It’s a bit ironic that the St. John’sAirport Authority – a crowd that would very much like to compare themselves to their colleagues on the mainland – have created a situation that falls under both definitions. One that’s not fit.Let’s take a look at that situation.

Let’s be honest. The sea will always be an integral part of our heritage in Newfoundland and Labrador, but in today’s world, the air is how most of us travel to and from our beautiful island home.

June 21 is National Day, a day to recognize and celebrate First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in Canada.  On this day we have many reasons to celebrate and also many reasons to fight.
