Colleen Coffey was elected Atlantic Regional Executive Vice-President at the 7th Regional Triennial Convention on June 24, 2017 in Saint John, NB.

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day, a day to recognize and celebrate First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in Canada.  On this day we have many reasons to celebrate and also many reasons to fight. The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) supports all Aboriginal Peoples in their struggle for full access to all human rights and fundamental freedoms. We strongly believe that those freedoms include the right to preserve and strengthen their own political, economic, legal and cultural traditions and institutions.

As you know, the next federal election will be held on October 19, 2015. On the 19th of every month, we are asking our members to be creative in highlighting the number 19 such as: standing outside your workplace for 19 minutes, wearing a piece of clothing with the number 19 or coming up with the 19 best ways of getting rid of the Harper Conservative government.

May 17th is recognized as International Day against Homophobia.  Even though rights for the GLBT community has improved, we still have a long way to go.  People should not live in fear because of their sexual orientation or sharing their love for one another in public.
