The Union of Postal Communications Employees (UPCE) Local 80823 is comprised of 14 members who work for Canada Post Corporation – National Philatelic Centre in Antigonish Nova Scotia. The National Philatelic Centre (NPC) opened in 1984 and at the time, employed approximately 120 workers. At the opening of the NPC and until 2011, the center was the ONLY Philatelic Centre in Canada, and the members provided customer service support to Philatelists who are collectors or studiers of postage stamps that are issued by Canada Post.

A yearly tradition! Members of the NS Area Council1 were out at the Dartmouth Farmers Market on Saturday July 28 to educate the public on the ongoing issues surrounding the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Congratulations to PSAC members employed by the Halifax Transition House Association – Bryony House (PSAC-DCL Local 80022) who have ratified their new collective agreement! The new agreement will expire in March 2019 and contained economic increases for 2017, 2018 and 2019. They also negotiated other improvements in regard to staff training and development, paid holidays, hours of work and two days bereavement leave for relief workers who become bereaved while on a shift. Once again, congratulations to the bargaining team and the membership!

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,
We are writing on behalf of Atlantic Council to all non-treasury board (non-TB) and separate employer members of the PSAC who want their voices heard on the regional council.
The non-TB / separate employer portfolio is very diverse, and its members face unique challenges as they are not subject to some of the benefits of being included under the umbrella of the Treasury Board, or, in the case of separately employed members, even under the Federal Government as a whole.
