Let’s build a child care system for Canada

Sisters and Brothers,

Please find in attachment a letter I sent to the female MPs in our Region in regards to child care.  Our members are directly impacted by the high cost of child care and year after year, resolutions are adopted at our Conventions urging our Union to take concrete steps in working towards quality affordable child care system in Canada.

Our governments are talking about child care and we can have our say too. For forty years, PSAC has worked with the broader child care movement to fight for a universal, high quality child care system for Canada. We now have an important opportunity to achieve that goal.  The federal, provincial and territorial governments are negotiating a Framework Agreement on Early Learning and Care, a Liberal election promise.

PSAC, along with the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada and others, is pushing the federal government to take leadership and build a quality, affordable child care system that all families can access wherever they live.  Let’s build a child care system for Canada.  Ask your federal and provincial governments to create a universal child care system.  To start, please use the following link: http://e-activist.com/page/5206/action/1

In solidarity,

Jeannie Baldwin
Regional Executive Vice-President, PSAC-Atlantic
