You can help veterans stop the closure of the Veterans Affairs offices in their communities. In the lead-up to Remembrance Day and beyond, PSAC members will be working with veterans to organize awareness-raising events in their communities and to urge Members of Parliament to speak out against the decision to close these offices. On Friday September 13th, 74 of the 88 employees at Service Canada’scall centre in Bathurst, NB, learned their hours of work are being reduced to part-time.  26 of the 42 workers in a call centre in St. John’s, NL, got the same bad news.  The reason everyone was given for such a drastic reduction?  Insufficient funding.
