Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited PEI this week.  PSAC members showed up with their Burnt By Phoenix signs to remind him that his government should take all measures necessary until federal public service workers get paid correctly and on time, every time.

PSAC members took part in Scott Brison's annual BBQ. They took this opportunity to discuss Phoenix, bargaining with Treasury Board and the need to protect public service jobs.

PSAC members met with Wayne Easter, MP for Malpeque, to discuss Phoenix and Treasury Board Bargaining. (Wayne Easter, Heather Ford, Michelle Neill and Les Smith. Brian Watts also participated but he was the cameraman.)

Congratulations to PSAC members employed by the Halifax Transition House Association – Bryony House (PSAC-DCL Local 80022) who have ratified their new collective agreement! The new agreement will expire in March 2019 and contained economic increases for 2017, 2018 and 2019. They also negotiated other improvements in regard to staff training and development, paid holidays, hours of work and two days bereavement leave for relief workers who become bereaved while on a shift. Once again, congratulations to the bargaining team and the membership!

On June 20th, Members of The PSAC Greater Moncton Human Rights committee in partnership with the Moncton River of Pride and MAGMA (Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area) hosted a presentation with Sandra Moran, the first self-proclaimed feminist and openly gay member of Congress to be elected in Guatemala.  While traveling with the Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence tour, Sandra shared her in-depth knowledge and political analysis of the current Guatemalan context with people from Moncton.
