Union of Safety and Justice Employees (USJE) Local 60001 is comprised of approximately 200 members who work at the RCMP Firearms Centre in Miramichi, New Brunswick. They provide public safety to Canadians under the RCMP Firearms program. They are known across Canada for being friendly, efficient and professional.

Members of the PSAC Saint John and Vicinity Area Council participated in the Labour Day event in Saint John with other Unions while members of the UNDE local 60303 participated in the Fredericton celebrations.

The PSAC Greater Moncton Area Council with the participation of some members of the Moncton Regional Women’s committee and the Human Rights committee was present at the Moncton Labour Day with other Unions.The attendance was probably the largest one to date.

PSAC MEMBERS PARTICIPATE IN PRIDE EVENTS IN NEW BRUNSWICK - This year, some regional committees, components and DCL PSAC members from Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton participated in their respective Pride Parade.

PSAC supports returning Moncton water services to public control
The situation at the Moncton Water Treatment Plant, one of contracting-out of government jobs, needs our full attention. As a public sector union, we always oppose the privatization of government services and actively support reintegrating those that have been privatized back into the public sector.

The Union of Postal Communications Employees (UPCE) Local 80823 is comprised of 14 members who work for Canada Post Corporation – National Philatelic Centre in Antigonish Nova Scotia. The National Philatelic Centre (NPC) opened in 1984 and at the time, employed approximately 120 workers. At the opening of the NPC and until 2011, the center was the ONLY Philatelic Centre in Canada, and the members provided customer service support to Philatelists who are collectors or studiers of postage stamps that are issued by Canada Post.

No words can describe how we feel following the tragedy that took place in Fredericton on August 10. We represent many workers that place their lives at risk every day in order to protect Canadians. We offer our most sincere sympathies to all that have been impacted by this tragedy and we vow to continue to work towards a safer Canada.
