The City Hall Employees Association (CHEA) is comprised of more than 200 members. Their members work at the following:  Moncton City Hall, Botsford Fire Station, Operations Center, Resurgo Place, Moncton Coliseum, Magnetic Hill Zoo, RCMP Head Quarter and the 911 Dispatch Center in Dieppe.

Members of PSAC local 60888 who are employed by the St. Thomas University Students’ Union in Fredericton, NB signed their new collective agreement on Wednesday. The main highlights of this agreement that expires on April 18, 2020 include:   -Significant wage increase whereas the ‘minimum wage’ will be set at $15/hour. -Language covering ownership rights; copyright, patents, intellectual property, etc. -Academic freedom recognized in strong language provisions.

The PSAC education team is preparing to revise the Talking Union Basics (TUB) course.  This course is often the first point of entry into PSAC union education.  If you are a graduate of this course, we would ask that you complete the following survey, which should take about 15 minutes. The information gathered will provide guidance for the revision of TUB.  Here is the survey.

April 29 Prior to the Convention officially opening, the regions held their regional caucuses.  Colleen Coffey, Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for the Atlantic Region chaired the Caucus and introduced members of the Atlantic Regional Council in attendance.

Sisters and Brothers, This week is National Volunteer Week and I wanted to take a brief moment to recognize and thank all of you who dedicate your time for our union.  Our members give so much without expecting anything in return.  We work together to improve working conditions for all workers in society and we take on causes that our near and dear to our hearts.  We obtain many victories and accomplishments because of the work we do together. Thank you to all FB members who have embarked on e-vote process and cast their vote.  This information is intended for all FB members who have not participated in the tentative agreement vote process to date.    It's a simple two step process for Members in Good Standing!    • Find a webinar/meeting on a regional website; register and listen to a 20 minute presentation on your tentative agreement. You have the option to stay on the session for the Q&A session after the presentation or;

During the 2017 Moncton Pride Week our PSAC Greater Moncton Human Rights committee took the opportunity to gather signatures on a Trans Flag showing the openness we have here in Canada as compared to other Countries and asked the Member of Parliament (MP) for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, Ginette Petitpas Taylor to present it to our Honorable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.   She recently had the opportunity to present the flag and as promised, provided our committee with a photo to be shared with our members.  Special Thanks to our MP!

Young workers across Canada are turning controversy into opportunity by donating free Loblaw gift cards to charity. Loblaw recently admitted to fixing the price of bread at stores across the country for more than a decade, and the company announced it would offer $25 gift cards to all customers as an apology. PSAC’s Regional Young Worker Committees are shifting the price-fixing scandal into a way to help Canadians in need.

Hello and Bonjour!  from GSU Local 60011. We are currently welcoming and registering our employer’s newest wave of hires. This will bring our member count to approximately 850 members.  Our members all work in Miramichi, NB for Public Services and Procurement Canada and are currently housed within 5 office locations.  With the grand opening of our new office building in January 2018, these office locations are planned to be reduced to 2 within the coming months.

Our Parks bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with the Agency February 16, 2018, which the team unanimously recommends. The Public Service Alliance of Canada will be holding an electronic vote for members of the Parks Canada Agency to ratify the tentative agreement between PSAC and Parks Canada. Meetings will be held by webinar for all members, in addition to face-to-face meetings organized in some regions.
