Sisters and Brothers, On May 9, 1992, an explosion at the Westray Mine in Pictou County, Nova Scotia killed 26 miners working underground.  It was one of the deadliest mining disasters in Canadian history and led to new Criminal Code provisions – known as the Westray Law – that made it possible to prosecute corporate criminal negligence. You can find below information in regards to the event taking place on May 9 at the Westray Miners Memorial Park.

Sisters and Brothers, National Public Service Week (NPSW) will be held June 11-17, 2017.  The event marks the importance of federal public service employees and to recognizes their service to Canadians.  Because the employer cannot pay its employees on time and accurately, we are asking our members to boycott NPSW. PSAC members proudly serve Canadians on a daily basis.  Our members deserve more than a piece of cake - if the employer wants to show their recognition for our members' valuable work; they should do that by paying them in full and on time.

JOHN’S, NL –Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) who are part of the Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN) local 90500 offer their perspective and caution on the financial debate ongoing at the post-secondary institution as it deals with a financial crunch.

The PSAC-Atlantic Regional Council met in Charlottetown, PE April 22-23. PSAC members also organized a rally in front of the local MP’s office asking to fix the phoenix pay system.
