June 21 is National Day, a day to recognize and celebrate First Nations, Inuit and Métis people in Canada.  On this day we have many reasons to celebrate and also many reasons to fight.

CHARLOTTTETOWN, PEI– A working group made up of the City of Charlottetown, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada and the Government of Prince Edward Island has released a report they commissioned into the scope and impact of potential federal job cuts on Prince Edward Island.The study, completed by McInnes Cooper, was launched in February 2012, at a time of widespread speculation about the volume of federal cuts. The key findings of the report are as follows:

Members of various unions gathered with members of the public in PEI to voice their concerns over job cuts and the scheduled implementation of the regressive HST. Speakers were concerned that fewer jobs and an unfair tax will create more hardships to many while the rich keep getting richer.
