On Saturday February 18, 2012 the members of the Montague Claims Processing Center, with an RCMP, escort marched a kilometre in a snow storm to the Down East Mall for a Rally to protest the impending closure of the only EI Claims Processing Center on Prince Edward Island.  More than 200 people gathered to hear politicians and union leaders speak out against the decision to close the center.  Three of the four Island MPs were in attendance, and all spoke.  Noticeably absent was Conservative MP Gail Shea who declined the invitation to attend.

MP Sean Casey, meets with PSAC Members

On Friday, Feb 3/12, Sean Casey, MP for Hillsborough in PEI, attended a meeting with approximately 8 PSAC members at the PSAC office in Charlottetown to discuss job cuts on PEI, and specifically, the move of 12 AS (Compensation Advisor) jobs from PEIto the Miramichi in NB, the move of 28 EI Processing jobs from PEIto Nova Scotia, as well as the huge cuts of approximately 500 jobs to the Veterans' Affairs Canada office in Charlottetown.  The future impending loss of these jobs will hav

This past week (January 30-February 2nd), our bargaining team met with CBSA/Treasury Board in an effort to bring the parties closer to a new contract.

On Friday, August 19th, only minutes before Atlantic region Employment Insurance processing centres were due to close for the weekend, federal government employees received an e-mail with devastating news.

Regional Women's Committees are an integral part in ensuring our members have a local hub for political and community action and making those critical alliances with marginalized groups in our communities.  If you are interested in working on activities that affect women, build on our strengths in the PSAC and develop partnerships with community organizations committed to issues affecting Women please join us! Please post on union bulletin boards and give wide distribution and encourage your Union Sister's to attend.

Union Representatives met November 1st with Mayor Clifford Lee, MLA Richard Brown, 2 representatives from Sean Casey’s office and representatives from the business community to discuss job cuts.
