The following text is from an article featured on the VOCM website:The Public Service Alliance of Canada says it is willing to go back to the table at any time to resolve a labour dispute at St. John's International Airport. Yesterday the Airport Authority accused the union of not being willing to negotiate, and of making reckless statements. Union spokesperson Chris Bussey says they're willing to sit down with the Airport Authority at any time.

Spirits were high as Chris Aylward, PSAC National Vice-President, marched alongside the members through St. John's Airport. They visited the corporate offices, but unfortunately the management team was not in! Jeannie Baldwin, Regional Executive Vice-President Atlantic, sent a message to the employer that "we bargain on our feet and not on our knees". Lana Payne was proud to stand in solidarity with an announcement that the NL Federation of Labour will be cancelling their upcoming Convention due to the airport strike.

Striking workers at the St. John's Airport have been consistently visiting the Board of Directors since the strike began to send a message that they want to get back to the table and negotiate a fair contract. Members of the public are also being asked to contact the Board of Directors.

ST. JOHN’S, NL – In a show of solidarity, PSAC National Executive Vice-President Chris Aylward, will be on the picket line for a BBQ and rally at St-John’s Airport from noon to 2 p.m. (NDT) on Thursday September 27.

UCTE Local 90916 marched through the St. John's Airport today to send a clear message to this employer that they want a fair contract. The march was followed by a BBQ at the picket line. Christine Collins, UCTE National President, gave an inspiring speech to her members and presented the Local with a donation from the Component. Lana Payne, Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour President, was also on hand to address the striking workers. Solidarity was strong as a number of fellow unions and allies marched along side.

Sister Christine Collins, UCTE National President, walked the picket line with her members today in Solidarity. Sister Debbie Forward of the Nurse's Union along with some members of their Board of Directors dropped by to show their support and to make a donation to the Local.

PSAC members at the St. John’s Airport Authority went on strike at 5:00, Sept 11, 2012. The members at this airport have been without a contract since 2009. They delivered a 100% strike mandate to their negotiating team.

ST. JOHN’S, NL – After four days of unsuccessful talks facilitated by a federal mediator, workers at St. John’s International Airport are backing up their 100% strike mandate. PSAC, the bargaining agent for (UCTE) Local 90916, served the St. John’s International Airport Authority the required 72 hours notice to strike on Friday. Picket lines went up at the airport 5:00am this morning.
