DARTMOUTH, NS, OCT 10, 2012 – Members of Parliament Robert Chisholm and Megan Leslie  have backed a coalition fighting the closure of Parks Canada’s Regional Archeological Facility in Dartmouth.  The MPs will tour the federal lab Friday morning and be available to media for comment directly afterwards alongside representatives from labour and Maritime Aboriginal Peoples and Acadian communities.

INGONISH, NS– Union leaders and a local Member of Parliament joined members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) from Cape Breton and beyond and the community of Ingonish today at an event aimed at stopping the privatization of Highlands Links.  Almost 200 people gathered at the Ingonish Fire Hall to send a message to Ottawa.

HALIFAX, NS - The Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE), Component of the Public Service Alliance which represents approximately 20,000 public and private sector workers at Department of National Defence establishments across Canada, is hosting a press conference in Halifax on Friday, September 14th, at 2:30 p.m.

ST. JOHN’S, NL – After four days of unsuccessful talks facilitated by a federal mediator, workers at St. John’s International Airport are backing up their 100% strike mandate.  PSAC, the bargaining agent for (UCTE) Local 90916, served the St. John’s International Airport Authority the required 72 hours notice to strike on Friday. Picket lines went up at the airport 5:00am this morning.

JOHN’S, NL – After a frustrating day of talks facilitated by a federal mediator, the bargaining agent for the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 90916 served the St. John’s International Airport Authority 72 hours notice of strike action at 5:26pm Friday.  Members are prepared to set up picket lines at 5:00am, Tuesday, September 11.

ST. JOHN’S, NL - Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE) Local 90916 who work at the St. John’s International Airport delivered a 100% mandate in favour of strike action at a meeting Thursday evening.

OROMOCTO, NB - The Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE) has been committed since April to making every effort to fight back against cuts to jobs and services announced in the federal budget. UNDE asked Locals to mobilize to challenge any cuts to core services. Today the UNDE local in at CFB Gagetown answered that call.
