ST. JOHN'S - The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the St. John’s International Airport Authority are pleased to announce that a collective agreement has been ratified by both parties, bringing an end to the strike at St. John’s International Airport.

ST. JOHN’S  – The Public Service Alliance of Canada welcomes federal Minister of Labour Lisa Raitt’s initiative for proposing non-binding recommendations.  Clearly the Minister recognizes that a negotiated settlement is possible.  PSAC has offered clear relief to the employer’s concessionary demands. The union continues to be willing and available to reach a fair and reasonable settlement.

ST. JOHN’S, NL – 85 striking workers will solemnly acknowledge the six-month-mark of their strike at St. John’s Airport Monday.  Striking workers and supporters will gather at the terminal for a silent vigil and appeal to the Airport CEO and his Board of Directors to end to the prolonged strike.

ST. JOHN’S, NL - After 5 days of negotiations and a 5-day recess, the St. John’s Airport Authority is refusing to negotiate with striking workers to end a six-month strike. Unfortunately, early on Friday, March 1, 2013, the federal mediator advised that he would not bring the parties back to the table and is standing down the process. It is now obvious to the PSAC that this employer is not prepared to negotiate an end to this labour dispute, but wants to continue trying to impose its demands on workers.

ST. JOHN’S, NL -  Federal Mediator Barney Dobbin called the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the St. John’s International Airport Authority back to the table this morning to resume negotiation.

ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Canada Industrial Relations Board has dismissed a complaint by the St. John’s Airport accusing the union representing striking workers of bargaining in bad faith.  The decision released yesterday maintains that the Public Service Alliance of Canada has thoroughly upheld its responsibilities as outlined in section 50(a) of the Canada Labour Code. The decision was issued unanimously by a three person panel.
