When an opportunity presents itself to lobby an MP, members need to be ready to take it and this is exactly what UNDE 60303 Local President Morris Shannon and his component RVP, Daniel Frost, did when they were presented with an opportunity to meet with NDP Defense Critic, Jack Harris, while he was in Moncton on other business.

The PSAC has won the Dennis McGann Stroke of Genius award for the most unusual, innovative, novel communications project at the Canadian Association of Labour media (CALM) awards banquet 2013.

The Twelfth Annual Provincial Day of Mourning for Workers Killed and Injured on the Job was held at Province House on Sunday, April 28th, 2013. PSAC Members joined other union members and Islanders in remembering workers who were injured or lost their lives on Island work sites. The ceremony was followed by a reception.

UTE local 60008 showed their support for the bargaining team by distributing material showing negotiations with CRA are as cold as ice and the local also distributed ice cream to its members. It was a fun activity with a strong message that UTE members are united for a fair contract and hope that the next sessions are a bit warmer.

Workers, family members, Unions and Government gathered throughout the province at ceremonies to commemorate the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job. In 2012, 32 workers lost their lives in Nova Scotia. A commitment to making all workplaces safer was the focus for many of the presenters. Laws must be strengthened and enforced.
